Origins
Having cultivated lessons learned from global development experiences in inclusive social accountability, and fragility, conflict and violence prevention, Community Development Insights was established by Mehreen Farooq to support communities to achieve meaningful, and lasting change.
We recognize that community development lies at the core of most social impact challenges - whether it is peace building, strengthening responsive and accountable governance, or advocating for social justice.
It requires bringing diverse stakeholders together, fostering a safe space to coalesce, and developing strategic priorities, and executing action plans — primarily using resources and assets that stakeholders already have.
Successful community development requires understanding the context and stakeholders (including those stakeholders that have a vested interest, but whom have been historically marginalized), supporting the formation of social partnerships, and mobilizing communities to action. The process is complex - yet rewarding.
